ADAS Calibration at Reliable Tire Group
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are safety-critical technologies built into modern vehicles. These systems — including lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring — rely on precisely calibrated cameras, radar sensors, and lidar to function correctly.
When Do You Need ADAS Calibration?
ADAS recalibration is required after any event that may have shifted or displaced a sensor or camera. Common triggers include:
- Windshield replacement — The forward-facing camera is typically mounted behind the windshield and must be recalibrated after glass removal.
- Collision repair — Even minor impacts can shift sensor alignment.
- Suspension work or wheel alignment — Changes to ride height or steering geometry can affect sensor angles.
- Bumper or grille removal — Radar sensors are often located behind the front bumper or grille.
- Dashboard warning lights — ADAS fault codes may indicate a calibration issue.
What Systems Do We Calibrate?
- Forward-facing camera (lane departure, forward collision, traffic sign recognition)
- Radar sensors (adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking)
- Blind-spot monitoring sensors
- Surround-view camera systems
- Parking assist sensors
Static vs. Dynamic Calibration
Static calibration is performed in our shop using manufacturer-specified targets and fixtures. The vehicle is positioned in a controlled environment and the camera or sensor is calibrated using target boards at precise distances and angles.
Dynamic calibration requires driving the vehicle at specific speeds and conditions so the system can self-calibrate using real-world inputs. Some vehicles require both static and dynamic calibration.
Why Choose RTG for ADAS Calibration?
Our certified technicians use manufacturer-approved calibration equipment and follow OEM procedures for every vehicle. As a CARSTAR partner through Larry's Auto Body, we handle post-collision ADAS recalibration as part of a complete repair workflow — ensuring every safety system is fully operational before your vehicle leaves our shop.
